How
to make a Claim?
-
If
an insured suffers a loss, which is covered by the policy, they must comply
with the claims process set by the insurer, which will require them to notify
the insurer of the loss quickly. A Surveyor or an assessor will usually be
appointed by an insurer to examine a claim in some detail.
Filing
your claim
-
Phone your
insurance agent/insurance company. Do it as soon as possible even if you are far
off from home and even if someone else caused the accident. Keep the copy of
cover note or insurance policy handy and make sure it is not expired.
-
Ask your
agent on how to proceed and what forms or documents will be needed to support
your claim.
-
Your company
may require a "proof of loss" form, as well as documents relating to your claim,
such as medical and auto repair bills and a copy of the police report. Supply
the information your insurer needs.
-
Keep records
of your expenses. Expenses you incur as a result of an automobile accident may
be reimbursed under your policy.
-
Keep copies
of your paperwork. You may need to refer to it later like FIR, copy of driving
license of driver of the vehicle.
